We're excited to introduce the newest addition to our team at the Racquet Club, Elanora Heights - Chef Dong Yeol Yoo, fondly known as Chef Francis. With over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Chef Francis brings a wealth of culinary expertise and a unique flair for Korean cuisine to our kitchen.
A Journey of Culinary Excellence
A graduate of the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts Institute, Chef Francis began his culinary journey in the bustling hotels of Korea. His love for travel and gastronomy led him to one of Perth's acclaimed teppanyaki restaurants, where he became popular.
As he ventured into fine dining, he worked in some of Sydney's exclusive chef-hatted restaurants. This exposure allowed him to deepen his understanding of Italian and French cuisines and learn from some of the top chefs in the industry. His culinary prowess didn't stop there; he further honed his skills as a sous chef at several 5-star hotels in Sydney CBD, embracing the art of customer service and mastering a variety of cuisines.
Before joining us at the Racquet Club, Chef Francis served as the Head Chef at local cafes on the North Shore, finding joy in serving smaller communities and emphasising the importance of personalised customer service.
Korean Flavours and Classic Pub Grub
At the Racquet Club, Chef Francis plans to serve up an eclectic mix of dishes. While you can still enjoy your favourite classic pub grub, from our popular schnittys to tasty burgers, his Korean roots promise to add excitement to our menu.
Chef Francis will introduce some beloved Korean street food to the Northern Beaches community. Get ready to tantalise your taste buds with his favourite foods from childhood, like the crispy Korean Fried Chicken and the delectable Prawn Mandu (Korean dumplings).
